The SBIR (Small Business Innovation Research) is a federal government grant program that provides early-stage Research and Development funding to small companies. The Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program grants must be conducted jointly with non-profit research institutions with 30 to 60 percent performed by the research institution. In addition an STTR, while submitted by the small business, can in some cases have a Principal Investigator from the research institution.

The New York State Small Business Development Center (NYS SBDC)–the premier business assistance organization in New York State–provides expert management and technical assistance to start-up and existing businesses across the state. The NYS SBDC is administered by State University of New York and funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the State of New York, and host campuses.

Since 1984, the Long Island Capital Alliance (LICA) has been promoting business growth on Long Island. LICA seeks to create a productive and business-friendly environment that will afford area businesses with access to the resources necessary to compete successfully in today’s markets. LICA serves as a focal point for the exchange of ideas among new and existing business enterprises, successful entrepreneurs, investors, and service providers. Through monthly meetings, our annual luncheon, and the LI/NY Metro Capital Forum, a highly successful venture capital conference, LICA brings together members of the region’s business community.
